Spring Student Recital Showcases Musical Excellence at Woodlands Middle School

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Woodlands Middle School auditorium was filled with the sound of talent and creativity as our 7th and 8th grade musicians took the stage for the annual Spring Student Recital.

Featuring solo performances on flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, piano, and trombone, the event celebrated not only the technical skill of our students but also the discipline, dedication, and personal growth fostered through music education.

As a special part of the evening, the recital began with a warm welcome to incoming 6th grade families from Richard J. Bailey Elementary School, who were visiting for Parent Orientation Night. Their presence offered a meaningful introduction to the rich arts opportunities that await their children and helped ease the transition to Woodlands Middle School.

The program featured a mix of Baroque, Classical, and modern selections, highlighting the expressive range of our young performers. The recital opened with Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Flute Concerto in G Major, performed with precision by C. Gonzalez, and concluded with a moving rendition of Andante and Allegro by Joseph Édouard Barat, performed by Band Director Mr. Doug Denniston — a powerful end to an inspiring night.

Special thanks to Ms. Lin Weintraub for her outstanding piano accompaniment and ongoing mentorship, and to the Makar family for their generous support and refreshments.

This evening was more than a performance — it was a celebration of the transformative power of music and the supportive community that makes it all possible.

The Greenburgh Central School District is proud to continue investing in the arts and in every student’s potential.
