Falcons Take Flight: Class of 2026 Celebrates College Signing Day at School-Wide Assembly

“Some of these students have been part of the Greenburgh Central School District family since our Early Childhood Program, and today their journey comes full circle as they prepare to graduate from Woodlands High School and take the next step toward their future,” said Dr. Foy, guidance counselor at Woodlands Middle High School.

Woodlands Middle High School recently celebrated the Class of 2026 during its annual College Signing Day, a joyful tradition that honored seniors as they announced the colleges, universities, and career pathways they will pursue after graduation.

Surrounded by proud families, teachers, administrators, and members of the Board of Education, students took the stage one by one to sign commitment letters and share their next steps with the school community. Their choices reflected both ambition and an impressive range of interests, from engineering, neuroscience, biology, and cybersecurity to nursing, economics, political science, acting, finance, and criminal justice.

Among the colleges and universities represented were highly selective institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, Northeastern University, Lehigh University, Boston College, and Howard University. Students also committed to outstanding public institutions, including Binghamton University, Stony Brook University, University at Albany, and University at Buffalo, as well as a wide range of colleges and universities across the country.

Addressing the seniors, Dr. Foy congratulated the Class of 2026 on reaching this important milestone and reminded younger students in attendance that one day they, too, would have the opportunity to celebrate their own futures.

“In three years, you’ll get to this point,” he said, encouraging middle school students to imagine the possibilities ahead and recognize that College Signing Day is the result of years of hard work, perseverance, and growth.

Dr. Foy also acknowledged the role families, guardians, and educators have played in supporting students along the way, noting that the celebration belonged to them as well.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Chisolm congratulated the seniors and reflected on the significance of the moment.

“You’ll be walking across the stage in less than 30 days, and I want you to know how proud we are of each and every one of you,” Dr. Chisolm said. “Today is an opportunity to celebrate all that you have accomplished and the exciting futures that lie ahead.”

Board of Education President Tracy Mairs and Trustee Erin Jacobsen joined in recognizing the seniors’ achievements and encouraged students to continue seeking opportunities that challenge them, build confidence, and strengthen their voices as leaders.

Class of 2026 Student Board members Vanessa Franklin and Eli Cinco also reflected on their experience serving as student representatives and encouraged other students to consider this leadership opportunity. Eli described the role as “a commitment to providing student voice around school decisions and creating future opportunities.”

Several members of the Class of 2026 will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level in basketball and football while pursuing majors including cybersecurity, finance, and sports management.

Throughout the ceremony, one message was clear: every path is worthy of celebration. Whether students are heading to nationally recognized universities, top SUNY institutions, or preparing to compete in collegiate athletics, the Class of 2026 leaves Woodlands with the knowledge, determination, and support to soar into their futures.
